The Winter Solstice on December 21st (Summer in the Southern Hemisphere) is the New Moon of the solar year - the darkest day, and the rebirth of the light.

The main message I received from the Solstice chart, which includes a rare Sun-Mercury conjunction, is the necessity of focusing our attention in order to bring the more beautiful world into being. 2024 promises to be a WILD ride, and now is the time to get our minds in order, step away from detrimental distractions, and harness the power of our imaginations to dream a new vision for the future.

I joined Kristine Backes on the Natural Wisdom Podcast to dive into Solstice astrology. Some of the headlines include:

• This is the last Capricorn Solstice for nearly 250 years with Pluto in Capricorn, bringing forward the question of how we use and define power;

• Mercury is closely conjunct the Sun at the Solstice, a rare occurrence emphasizing the need and opportunity for “mental ownership” and sovereignty, as well as the power of our attention;

• Venus has a great deal of influence at the Solstice, and the alignment with Uranus offers a chance to break free from old trauma stories and resentments.

We also discussed, explained, and shared a rant about the ever-recurring and unnecessary debate over the difference between the Tropical (based on the seasons) versus Sidereal (based on the stars) Zodiacs. We shared our views on why they both work, they are both accurate, and each Zodiac has its own form of elegance.
