Cancer full moon - The courage to reclaim your inner power

The first Full Moon of the year stirs up some serious emotional energy! Not only is the Moon extra-potent in its home sign of Cancer, it also conjoins with retrograde Mars and opposes Pluto. Translation? Reactivity, crabbiness, insecurity, frustration, rage… may be easily triggered by people and situations “out there.”

Mars and Pluto have been traveling in opposition since late October - a volatile, polarizing combination that reflects the intensity unfolding in the collective story. The opposition first became exact - and therefore strongest - on November 3rd, for a second time on January 3rd, and now the Full Moon catalyzes and amplifies these explosive energies once again.

On a personal level, Mars retrograde (December 6 to February 23) invites you on a heroic mission to reclaim your power, to recharge and restore your life force, to break through blocks and fears that keep you from shining the light of your true self and pursuing your authentic path.

Retrograde Mars is an INNER journey taking you deep within and back into the past. Mars in Cancer (January 6 to April 17) specifically highlights your early childhood, family of origin, and ancestors as productive grounds for excavation, review and healing.

Pluto in Aquarius pushes you to evolve beyond the limits of what you thought was possible, to wake up to the infinite creative power of your human mind and consciousness, to free yourself from the artificial, illusory construct of the hive-mind Matrix.

Mars-Pluto brings awareness to the subconscious programming and past trauma that keep you stuck in the “little me” perception of reality, in a childlike state of helplessness rather than the Spiritual Warrior and Divine Creator you came here to be.

Oppositions are relational - they correlate to reflections and projections. In other words, your inner “issues” tend to get triggered by other people. But as long as you’re putting your focus on the external – what’s “wrong” with other people and the world – you’re missing out on this Full Moon’s opportunity for healing.

Consider that whatever is being reflected back to you by the people and situations in your life has more to do with wounding from the past than with present time. These reflections are helping you recognize where you’ve outsourced your power, showing you a part of yourself that’s ready to heal and evolve.

The key is to turn inward, take 100% responsibility for your experience, have the courage to face your fears and shadows, and feel the feelings that have been repressed or denied (“feeling is healing”). Your inner child is calling for attention at this Full Moon, longing for your love, acceptance and compassion. Time in or near water, soothing music, journaling, dancing or making art can be supportive.
