The Virgo New Moon marks the end of Eclipse Season (can I get an amen??). Reemerging from this 6-week, high-pressure portal of death and rebirth, this New Moon brings you back to your body to digest and integrate all the changes, and to discern how to move forward from here.

This is the best New Moon of the year for making adjustments in your daily routines to support your health and improve efficiency and productivity, and for new beginnings in your work life. Simplify, clear out the clutter and get organized so you can focus your precious attention on what really matters.

Mercury, ruler of Virgo, is in Libra, putting relationships in the spotlight - as they will continue to be for the rest of the year. Venus, ruler of Libra, entered her pre-retrograde shadow on August 31, turning attention to what’s unresolved and unhealed in relationship-land. Lovers and partners from the past may resurface - in waking life or the dreamtime - to complete unfinished business or bring a new perspective to the past.

The same day as the New Moon, Venus moves into Scorpio, where she will remain an extra-long time because of her retrograde (October 3 to November 13). Venus retro in Scorpio calls for the courage to face and own the parts of yourself that have been hidden in the shadows, and to feel what you’ve been afraid to feel.

What has become stagnant and toxic and needs to be purged? Where are you avoiding intimacy and vulnerability by not being honest and authentic? What have you been holding onto or resisting emotionally that’s now ready to be felt? What are the subconscious programs that limit your capacity for pleasure, receptivity and surrender?

Adding to the intensity, Venus opposes Chiron in Taurus and squares Pluto in Aquarius - a stressful t-square that can stir up scarcity fears, possessiveness, jealousy and power struggles. A higher potential is healing unworthiness and deepening intimacy through the unearthing and sharing of your deepest truth. Speaking with vulnerability and an open heart is key.

Uranus, planet of revolution, turns retrograde the same day as the New Moon, catalyzing reversals, revelations, breakthroughs and potential anxiety. Expect unexpected disruptions to your Virgoan plans and routines. The assignment is to flow with change, cultivate INNER peace and balance in the midst of chaos, and keep your mind and heart open to new perspectives and possibilities.

For more insight into what this new moon means for YOU, find the house in your birth chart that contains 18° Virgo. The areas of life signified by that house are where there’s powerful energy for seeding a new beginning, and where you’re invited to:

  • purge what is no longer nourishing and realign with your essence;

  • reclaim your sovereignty and strengthen your self-possession;

  • make a new beginning in health, healing and service;

  • simplify, get organized and increase your efficiency and productivity;

  • and release judgment and perfectionism and start where you are.

I go into all the Virgoan details about how to work with these powerful planetary energies in my one-hour New Moon audio transmission, available to paid subscribers on Substack. You can gain immediate access to the recording, and all future New & Full Moon recordings, by becoming a paid subscriber ($16/month or $155/year). Founding subscribers ($185/year) can also join me for a monthly livestream, and receive my Pluto in Aquarius webinar as a gift
