Happy Imbolc! Though typically celebrated on February 1st, true Imbolc – the exact midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, when the Sun reaches 15 degrees Aquarius – falls on February 4th this year.
This cross-quarter holyday signifies a time of quickening, a rekindling of the light and of your visions for and excitement about the future. ALL the planets are now moving direct (forward), further stepping up the pace and offering a window of opportunity, until April 1st, for launching new projects and directions.
The momentum really kicks off at next Friday’s Aquarius New Moon, which sparks a radical break from the past and initiation into a whole new – possibly unexpected – story or chapter. This New Moon is a powerhouse for several reasons.
Not only is this lunation a Super New Moon – when the New Moon coincides with the Moon’s closest proximity to Earth, thereby amping up its potency – it’s also Chinese New Year, when we enter the year of the Wood Dragon.
This lunation is also the very first (in our lifetimes) Aquarius New Moon with Pluto also in Aquarius. Over the next few weeks, all three of the inner planets – Mercury, Mars and Venus – will move into Aquarius and cross over Pluto. This is a “getting to know you” moment, when we’re going to experience, at an up-close-and-personal level, what these new Pluto in Aquarius frequencies and assignments are all about.
Adding to the excitement, the New Moon forms a tight square – 90-degree angle of tension and friction – with Uranus, the modern ruler of Aquarius. This square might feel like an electric shock, and could catalyze a quantum leap into the future, and/or a radical separation from what no longer feels authentic or aligned.
“Expect the unexpected” is the Uranian motto, along with “Out of chaos comes creativity.” Flow with change, be willing to disconnect from old ideas of who you thought you were or had to be, and stay present and open to new possibilities and opportunities.
