Gemini New Moon - "Attention is the Key to Life"

As we come into the wildest astrology of the year, as the winds of change gain speed and momentum, the Gemini New Moon invites a mental reset. How are you focusing your mind? Where are you directing your attention, your most precious resource? How are you wielding the power of language? Gemini, ruled by Mercury the Magician, reminds you that “your word is your wand.”

With Uranus also in the sign of the Twins, and squaring the Nodes, the Gemini energies are EXTREME. When distorted or unconscious, Gemini feels scattered, distracted, all over the place. The monkey mind generates worry, anxiety and self-doubt.

The higher, conscious expression of Gemini is Buddha-mind. Take a deep breath, step back from the drama, and become the witness/observer. In times of epic change, Gemini suggests getting curious about what might unfold, viewing the world through a lens of awe and wonder. Isn’t it interesting? Times of silence and stillness are essential to calm the nervous system and focus the mind.

Uranus’s square to the Nodes, in effect for the past month and now exact (strongest), shakes up your plans, throwing curveballs that disrupt and reorient your life’s trajectory. This represents a karmic crossroads, a choice point - to default into the familiar territory of your smaller self, holding onto what your mind can make sense of and how you think your life should look, or to awaken to and activate a new, more expansive story, surrendering to where the Great Mystery wants to take you.

Chiron is living large at the New Moon, bringing attention to where you may feel wounded, broken or victimized - as well as opening opportunities for healing. Chiron at the 29th (last) degree of Aries is finishing up a healing chapter that started in 2018, and stirring up the parts of yourself still calling for love and acceptance.

Chiron’s wounding-healing dynamic is further amplified by its square to Jupiter, which will perfect in July, after Chiron has moved into Taurus (June 19) and Jupiter into Leo (June 29-30). Chiron in Aries in relation to Jupiter in Cancer can bring up very young parts of yourself, triggering wounding from early childhood, the frustration and pain of not being seen and loved for who you are.

The Gemini New Moon forms a harmonious sextile to Chiron, opening your mind to new perspectives on your wounds and your healing journey. Where are you seeing yourself as a victim, and can you tell a different story? Can you bring more love, compassion and acceptance to the parts of yourself you see as separate, broken, not enough? How could you focus your attention to support your healing, and the healing of the world?
